Miami is a city built around the water. Biscayne Bay runs through the middle of it, the river cuts through downtown, and the islands sit just offshore like something someone placed there on purpose.

Most people see Miami from the highway or the beach. From a boat, it is a different city entirely. Browse vessels departing from Miami and book your charter online.

What Makes Miami Different

01

Biscayne Bay from the Inside

Still water, wide open views, and nowhere to be.

Charters departing from Miami cruise directly onto Biscayne Bay, the 35 mile lagoon that separates the city from the barrier islands. The bay is shallow, warm, and calm for most of the year. From the water, the downtown skyline rises on one side while Key Biscayne and Virginia Key stretch out on the other. There is no swell to fight, just flat water and a slow pace.

02

The Sandbars

Warm, shallow, and exactly as relaxed as it sounds.

Miami is surrounded by sandbars where the water is knee deep, the bottom is soft sand, and the temperature hovers around 82 degrees most of the year. Nixon Sandbar sits just south of the Rickenbacker Causeway, popular with families and smaller groups. Haulover Sandbar draws weekend crowds north of Bal Harbour. Both are easy day charter destinations, and anchoring for a few hours is part of the experience. Wade in, float, or stay on board with a drink in hand.

Star Island and the Venetian Islands

Waterfront mansions best seen from the water.

The chain of man made islands between Miami and Miami Beach includes Star Island, the Venetian Islands, and Hibiscus and Palm Islands. Built in the 1920s during the Florida land boom, these neighborhoods are home to some of the most expensive residential real estate in the United States. The channels between them are narrow, sheltered, and ideal for slow cruising. Passing through on a charter is one of the few ways to see these properties up close.

Golden Hour on the Bay

The light does something different here.

Afternoon and evening charters catch the sun moving west behind the downtown skyline while the bay turns copper and the buildings catch the last light. There is a reason golden hour in Miami has its own reputation. The reflection off the water, the warmth in the air, and the slow transition into city lights make a sunset charter one of the most requested experiences in the fleet. No itinerary needed, just a departure time and a heading.

We left from downtown Miami on a Saturday and spent the whole afternoon anchored at the sandbar. The kids were in the water for hours. On the way back we cruised past Star Island as the sun was going down. Genuinely the best day we have had in Miami.

Miami sits at the southern tip of mainland Florida, bordered by Biscayne Bay to the east and the Everglades to the west. The city was incorporated in 1896 with just 444 registered voters. Today the Greater Miami area is home to over six million people and one of the busiest cruise ports in the world. Biscayne Bay stretches 35 miles from north to south, averages about six to ten feet in depth, and maintains water temperatures around 82 degrees year round. The bay is a designated aquatic preserve, and its calm, protected waters make it one of the most popular boating destinations on the East Coast.
